The entire performance was set to a backdrop of specially designed visuals and animation by Gorillaz co-creator Jamie Hewlett. The band and guests were accompanied by an orchestra, a children's choir and the Manchester Community Gospel choir. This unique event featured appearances from Gorillaz co-creator Damon Albarn, Neneh Cherry, Bootie Brown, De La Soul, Ike Turner, Shaun Ryder, Roots Manuva, Martina Topley-Bird and pre-recorded contributions from MF Doom, Dennis Hopper and Ibrahim Ferrer.
Gorillaz: Demon Days Live DVD brings the whole huge experience to the small screen for the first time. Murdoc and 2D were in the audience as some of the finest musicians in the world took to the stage to perform Demon Days from start to finish, as a trailblazing event for 2007's inaugural Manchester International Festival. This band has four animated members: 2D (lead vocalist, keyboard, and melodica), Murdoc Niccals. The project consists of Gorillaz itself and an extensive fictional universe depicting a 'virtual band' of cartoon characters. This was the very first live rendition of the record, as sanctioned by band members 2D, Murdoc, Russel and Noodle themselves. Gorillaz are an English musical and visual project created in 1998 by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett. Over five nights last November the musical collaborators behind Gorillaz' smash hit second album Demon Days assembled at the Manchester Opera House to take on the task of recreating the album live onstage.

Leaving Kong Studios completely empty of any Gorillaz members. At this time 2-D had left to get a law degree, Noodle was of course presumed dead, Russel had left Kong to make Gorillaz remixes and Murdoc had been left by himself, before leaving to take a journey around the world. Gorillaz co-creator/producer Damon Albarn was also on hand to help bring the 'Demon Days' album to life. Guest musicians included De La Soul, Shaun Ryder from Happy Mondays, and UK hip hop artist Roots Manuva. The only residents on the Slowboat To Hades DVD was the Lobby Demon, Shaun Ryder's head in the Studio kitchen Fridge and the Polar Bear and Crocodile. Gorillaz, the world's biggest two-dimensional band, performed LIVE at the Manchester Opera House November 1st through 5th, 2005. The DVD was missing the G-Shop, The Kitchen, The Balcony and Noodle's Room. The lobby no longer had the contents it had before, the same went for the rest of Kong, with there not being a lot of contents. In the DVD you can find Kong Studios destroyed. This version of Kong Studios was completely computarised unlike the Celebrity Take Down DVD.
At the time of Slowboat To Hades release even the website version of Kong Studios had started going into despair. However, the first MIF production, a trailblazer event designed to show what the Festival was aiming to become, was staged a little earlier, in 2005 exactly ten years ago. It is set to the familiar theme of the Phase One: Celebrity Take Down DVD, where its set in Kong Studios and you can find music videos, G-Bitez and more from the phase it was set in. The first Manchester International Festival was held in 2007, taking over the city with an adventurous programme of original, new work. In the DVD, due to Noodle being gone from Kong, the place had started entering a place of disrepair. Slowboat To Hades is set in Kong Studios after the events of the El Mañana (Video).
